Review movies Bone Keeper ( 2026 )

Hey movie fans! If you’re craving a fresh creature feature that mixes claustrophobic tension, ancient myths, and some gooey monster action, then **Bone Keeper (2026)** might just be your next midnight watch. This British horror flick delivers exactly what it promises: a group of friends venturing into dark, twisting caves where something very old and very hungry is waiting.
I just finished watching it (digitally released in the UK on April 6, 2026), and I’m here to chat about it in my usual casual style. No major spoilers, I promise—just enough to get your heart racing and decide whether you want to dive into those caves yourself.
Bone Keeper (2026) – Movie Review
Title: Bone Keeper (2026)
Director: Howard J. Ford
Genre: Horror / Creature Feature
Runtime: 1h 30m
Release: April 6, 2026 (UK Digital) – US TBD
Starring: Sarah Alexandra Marks, Louis James, Tiffany Hannam-Daniels, John Rhys-Davies, and more
The Story (Without Spoilers):
In Bone Keeper six young friends head into a remote cave system in the misty Welsh wilderness to investigate a series of missing persons cases—specifically the disappearance of Olivia’s mother years earlier. She vanished while exploring the legendary Skirred caves, rumored to be home to the “Bone Keeper,” an ancient creature that devours anyone who dares enter its domain.
What starts as a curious adventure (with a fame-hungry vlogger tagging along for livestream content) quickly turns terrifying. As the group delves deeper, they find claw marks on the walls, strange slime, and echoes of past explorers. They soon realize they’re not alone. Something intelligent, slimy, and extremely dangerous is stalking them in the pitch-black tunnels.
Will they uncover the truth about the missing people… or simply become the next victims? The tagline says it all: “Something ancient. Something evil. And it’s not planning on letting them leave.”
What Works Well
- The Creature Design — The Bone Keeper looks genuinely creepy and otherworldly. It has that Lovecraftian/alien vibe (rumored to have hitched a ride on a meteorite), with tentacles, slime, and a killer silhouette that works great in the darkness. For a low-to-mid budget British horror, the practical and CGI blend is surprisingly effective in tight spaces.
- Claustrophobia Factor — The caves feel real and suffocating. Narrow passages, dripping water, total darkness—director Howard J. Ford nails the sense of being trapped underground. If you’re afraid of tight spaces, this one will make you squirm.
-Solid Performances— John Rhys-Davies brings gravitas as the voice of warning (he’s always a welcome presence). The younger cast, especially Sarah Alexandra Marks as Olivia, delivers believable panic and friendship dynamics.
- Pacing— At 90 minutes, it moves briskly. It builds tension steadily before unleashing the creature-feature chaos in the final act.
Where It Could Be Better
Some of the dialogue and character decisions feel a bit familiar (classic horror tropes: ignoring warnings, splitting up, etc.). The vlogger character is fun but sometimes leans into cliché. And while the monster looks cool, a few effects moments lean into “AI slop” territory according to some early audience reactions—though I still found it entertaining overall.
It’s not reinventing the wheel, but it knows exactly what it is: a straightforward, gory, cave-set monster movie that delivers jumps, screams, and some satisfying practical gore.
My Verdict
Bone Keeper (2026) is a solid 6.5/10 for horror fans who love creature features like The Descent meets a touch of cosmic horror. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s fun, tense, and delivers exactly the kind of “what’s lurking in the dark” thrills you want on a Friday night.
If you enjoy:
- Claustrophobic cave horror
- Ancient/ alien monsters
- Groups of friends getting picked off one by one
…then grab some popcorn (and maybe leave the lights on) and give Bone Keeper a watch.
